Wednesday, May 18, 2011 – 4th Annual Celebration of Smiles Charity Ride Benefits Chris Evert Children’s Hospital
Fort Lauderdale, FL – Nearly 600 motorcyclists and hundreds of community members rallied for the 4th Annual Celebration of Smiles Charity Ride. The Big Bike Riders Children’s Foundation raised and donated $12,000 for the Broward Health Foundation to benefit Chris Evert Children’s Hospital. Grand Marshalls Glen Rice, NBA All-Star; and U. S. Rep. Allen West, helped kick start the event.
Broward Sheriff’s Office Deputy Ian Doriant briefed riders about the “rules of the road” before beginning the 61 mile ride. BSO Officers provided an escort for the ride to Bru’s Room where participants watched a bike show and listened to music performed by The Southern Rock Society, Hat Trick and The Baker Act.
“My deepest gratitude goes to the Big Bike Riders Children’s Foundation and the Broward Health Foundation for all they have done for Chris Evert Children’s Hospital,” said Thaw. “Each year, this event gets bigger and better thanks to their support and dedication. It’s inspiring to see the community come together for a day of fun to support a wonderful cause.”
